Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of instant coffee
2 tablespoons of indigo powder
1 cup of hot water
Optional: a teaspoon of salt to help fix the dye
Instructions:
Prepare the Dye Mixture:
In a heat-resistant bowl, dissolve the instant coffee in one cup of hot water. Allow it to cool slightly.
Once the coffee has cooled, stir in the indigo powder and, if using, the salt. Mix until you form a smooth, consistent paste.
Application:
Apply the mixture to clean, dry hair. It’s easiest to use gloves and apply the mixture with a hair dye brush to ensure even coverage.
Part your hair and apply the paste from the roots to the tips. Make sure every strand is well-coated.
Leave It Overnight:
Cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid staining your bedding. Let the mixture sit on your hair overnight to allow the color to develop fully.
Rinse Out:
In the morning, rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Avoid using shampoo immediately after rinsing out the dye to allow the color to set in.
Repeat for Best Results:
For deeper color and to cover more gray hair, you might need to repeat this application several times. Regular use will intensify and prolong the color.
Additional Tips:
Always do a patch test before applying the mixture to your entire head, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Wear old clothes when applying the dye, as indigo can stain fabric.
